Overview
Kashmir Delight is our most-loved introduction to the valley, paced so you have time to linger. You'll start on the water, with a night aboard a traditional houseboat and a sunset shikara ride past floating gardens and lotus beds.
From Srinagar, private transfers take you up to the meadows of Gulmarg for a ride on one of the world's highest gondolas, out to the pine-forested Lidder valley at Pahalgam, and along the Sindh river to the snowfields of Sonmarg — before a last evening of Mughal gardens and kahwa back in the city.
Day by day
Our representative meets you at Srinagar airport and drives you to your houseboat on Dal Lake. After a welcome kahwa, settle in and enjoy a golden-hour shikara ride past the floating vegetable gardens, lotus beds and Char Chinar island.
Drive through apple orchards and paddy fields to Gulmarg (approx. 2 hours). Ride the Gulmarg Gondola to Kongdoori for sweeping views of the Pir Panjal range, with the option to continue to Apharwat Peak. In winter, try skiing or a sledge ride.
Head to Pahalgam via the saffron fields of Pampore and the ruins of the 9th-century Avantipura temple. Arrive by afternoon and stroll along the Lidder river as the light falls on the pine forests.
A full day exploring Pahalgam's three famous valleys by local cab — Betaab Valley's riverside meadows, the alpine village of Aru, and Chandanwari, starting point of the Amarnath Yatra, where snow lingers into early summer.
Drive along the Sindh river to Sonmarg, the 'meadow of gold', with an optional pony ride to the Thajiwas Glacier. Return to Srinagar in the evening for a walk through the terraced Mughal gardens of Nishat and Shalimar.
After breakfast, time for last-minute shopping for pashmina, papier-mâché and dry fruits before your transfer to Srinagar airport.
